He will fill you up
by Stacy Book
Do you wait until the line is almost on E before you fill your tank up with gas? A lot of us do. I'll
have to admit. I'm one of them.
One Wednesday night as I was driving to church, my tank was
almost empty and what do we usually do when we get in that situation? We start praying, "Lord, please get me to the gas
station. I'll never let my tank get that low again. Just please get me there before I run out. That's just what I
did. I drove and prayed the whole way there. We'll guess what, God helped me get there. I made it. As I pulled up to the
pump, I noticed a plastic bag covering the nozzle. I didn't think much of it. I pulled the bag off and laid it on the
ground and started filling my tank. After I filled it, I went in to pay for the gas. The lady who waited on me had a puzzled
look on her face. She said the pumps were not working due to the lightning the night before and I was the only one to get
gas that day. I told her it must be working now. So I paid for it and went on to church. As I was driving, I thought, WOW,
did God just fill my tank up with a pump that didn't work? I really needed gas because I wouldn't have made it to
another gas station. God provided my need. Philippians 4:19 says, And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious
riches in Christ Jesus.
I got to church and told the story to a few people. I had a shirt on
that said, Walk with me. Signed God. My cousin, who is the youth minister, said, "Yea, you showed them that if you walk
with God, He'll show you what He can do. I thought that was really neat. But that's not the end of the story. The
next morning as I was driving back to the church to clean, I drove past the gas station and the plastic bags were back on
the nozzles. Did they quit working again after I left or Were they ever working?
By the way,
are you tired of paying high gas prices? Remember, Jesus paid a high price, too. He paid for all our sins so we could have
eternal life. Your gas tank may run out, but if you have Jesus Christ living inside you, He will fill your heart with his
love and it will NEVER run out. If you feel empty inside, let Jesus fill your heart. It cost Jesus his life, but it won't
cost you ANYTHING. It's a free gift. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this
not from yourself, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.
