To Eat or Not To Eat
BY MELISSA TAPP
It
was the end of October 1999. I was the only one working in the house to supply food, pay the bills, etc.
My husband, Mark, quit his job about five months ago. Thing were getting really tight.
One day I knew I couldn't bring anything to eat for lunch because we didn't have the money and it was three
days until payday. One morning while I was working, I was singing to the Lord, trying to keep my mind off
of it. But as lunch time was approaching, I was starting to get upset. I was hungry
and I remembered the verse that said that anyone who does not work shall not eat. So why do I have to work
hard and not get anything to eat? A little later on I remembered I had four quarters in my pocket that
someone had given my little boy. So when lunch time came, I went to the vending machine to find something for a dollar.
I thought, Well, I'll give it back to him when I get some money. Before I got anything, someone
I worked with brought in some food that had been cooked and offered me some. I was so happy knowing God
WAS watching over me. They also had some food they wanted to give me. It was enough
for about 3 months, but I told them I only wanted enough until payday. Like God said, Those who work hard
for him shall have something to eat.
