THE "KEY" TO OPEN A DOOR
By Stacy Book
Have any of you ever had trouble with keys? Either
lost them or locked yourself out of your house? In my case, I had trouble getting keys out of locks and keys not opening doors.
I've had two experiences within one week with that problem. If you've read my other stories,
you know that I clean houses.
One morning, I got to the house I was cleaning
and went to open the door, and it was locked. They usually have it open if they have already left.
As soon as I tried to open the door, the lady who lives there, called me on my cell phone. She said
her son forgot to leave the door open on his way out. She told me where the spare key was.
I found it and opened the door with no problem. I went in and went to pull the key out and I couldn't
get it. Her door handle is tricky anyway, so I figured there was a trick to get it out. I
kept messing with it and couldn't get it. I was getting frustrated so I stopped and went on and started
cleaning. I thought I'll just try it again later. Well, it bothered me so after
about 10 minutes, I went back to it. I messed with it again and still couldn't get it.
So I stopped and prayed, James 5:13 says, Is anyone of you in trouble? He should pray. I asked God
to please help me get this key out. I need help. Please help me.
I started trying again and as soon as I started, the key came right out. I didn't know how I
did it, but it worked. God did it. He helped me. He answered my prayer.
Then one week later, I had another problem with one of my keys. It was 5:00 in the morning. The people I cleaned for that day were
on vacation. I was trying to open the door and it would not open. I worked on it for
about 5 minutes. Finally, I stopped and started praying and once again, as soon as I tried again, it opened
right up.
Psalm 55:16 says, But I call to God, and the Lord saves me.
1 Peter 3:12 says, For
the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their prayers.
Revelation 3:20 is a great "key" passage. Jesus says, Here I am!
I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I
will come in and eat with him, and he with me.
Leave the door of your heart constantly open to God, and you won't need to worry about hearing his knock.
Letting him in is your only hope for lasting fulfillment. (commentary from Life Application Study
Bible).
