UPDATES

BY STACY BOOK

This story is, I guess you would say, an update from some of my other stories. In one of my recent ones, God was speaking to one of my friends about teaching my Sunday School class and speaking to me about giving it up at the same time. I thought God may have other plans for me, so I prayed if he did that he would show me. Well, a few weeks later, I felt called to start a bible study with my best friend, April, who is in another story of mine. I prayed for her for several years- and still do. She and her husband were both saved after years of praying. God has always kept us together over the years. There were times we didn’t see much of each other, but he always brought us together again. Now we meet once a week and study the Bible together. We talk and laugh too and that helps build our friendship.

The outreach program we have at church is going well. We have a community dinner every 4th Wednesday of the month and give away food boxes. At first, people would just come and get a box, but now more are staying and eating with us. It helps us build relationships with them and lets them know we care about them. We have lots of children and teenagers coming. We’re trying to improve our youth center and looking into other options for our community.

I’ve had some changes in my work. I clean houses, the church and an office. I gave up one of my offices. The timing on cleaning it wasn’t working for me. I prayed about it and God gave me more houses so I could give it up. It’s made a big difference in my life. My husband has a new job now that he really likes. He’s happy with it. My oldest son is working and getting ready to go back to college. He coaches archery and does well with it. He will always have his sense of humor. My youngest son just got his permit. He drives very well. God is really working in his life. I can’t wait to see what God has planned for him. He has done a few devotions with the youth, he preached one Sunday, he’s always helping friends with their problems. He’s also sang (which surprised everyone). He’s a hard worker- at school and at home. He loves outside work. He stays busy working at home and for other people.

In my story about Kelly, who is like a daughter to me, and her twins, Brayden & Alexis, who are like grandchildren to me, are doing good. They are just like family. I get to keep the babies a lot. You would know it if you seen my house, baby stuff everywhere. I enjoy being with them.

As you read this, it may be all new to you. It may be your first time to read it. You may not even be interested in what I’ve wrote. Besides updating some of these stories, I do have a point I’d like to make.

Through all these stories, there have been good and bad times as they happened. God says in Ecclesiastes 7:14- When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, a man cannot discover anything about his future. We go through happy times, sad times, hard times, easy times and so on. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven. If you read Ecclesiastes, you learn that life is meaningless apart from God. No matter what you go through in life, don’t live it without God. Whether life is hard or easy, knowing God is with you, gives you true peace, joy and contentment- and that makes all the difference.
